HVAC · Edmonton area

Early calls, while cleaning up a hack the size of a city.

Jackson Heating & Cooling is a service-area HVAC business in the Edmonton area. The new site launched into an unusual problem: the previous website had been compromised, leaving hundreds of thousands of junk URLs to clear before the domain could rank normally. It is producing calls anyway.

The starting point: an inherited disaster

Before the rebuild, Jackson had no organic leads to speak of. Worse, the old website had been hit by a cyber attack that flooded the domain with spam: 291,851 pages showing in Google Search Console, almost all of it junk generated by the compromise. A domain in that state does not rank. Google is busy sorting through a mountain of garbage, and legitimate pages get lost in it.

So the job had two fronts at once: build a real HVAC website that deserves to rank, and dig the domain out from under a hack the size of a small city's worth of pages. That cleanup is still underway.

What we did

Rebuild and rescue, at the same time.

  1. 01

    New service-area website

A fast, custom HVAC site built around the services and areas Jackson actually wants. Structured to rank once the domain is out from under the cleanup.

  2. 02

    Index cleanup

Systematically getting the 291,851 hacked URLs removed from Google's index and Search Console. The slow, unglamorous work that has to happen before anything else can.

  3. 03

Local SEO and Google Business Profile

Profile, categories and local signals set up so the business can be found in the map results and start earning reviews.

  4. 04

    Authority building

Backlink work to rebuild the domain's standing and offset the damage the compromise did to its reputation.

Results so far

Calls coming in with one hand tied behind its back.

These are early figures from an unusual situation. The domain is still emerging from the cleanup, so normal search performance is suppressed. That they exist at all is the point.

Legitimate pages indexed so far

Organic calls

Page-index and click figures from Google Search Console; organic calls tracked in analytics; backlinks counted with a backlink tool. Before this engagement, the business had no organic leads.

This is an early, in-progress result under extraordinary circumstances. With only one page indexed while the 291,851-page cleanup continues, search performance is heavily suppressed, so these numbers understate what the site should do once the domain is clear, and none of them are yet a stable trend.

What happens next

The priority is finishing the index cleanup so legitimate pages can be crawled and ranked normally. As the hacked URLs clear and indexing recovers, the expectation is that visibility and calls grow from a base that, remarkably, is already producing enquiries. We will publish updated figures as the situation stabilises, with their sources and dates attached.
